Principal Exploration Geologist – Senior-Level Opportunity in Fugro

This role is ideal for a highly experienced professional with a proven background in mineral exploration, resource development, and strategic geological leadership. You will play a key role in supporting Fugro’s mining vision by driving innovation, guiding exploration strategies, and delivering outstanding technical solutions for major clients.

The Principal Exploration Geologist will provide technical direction, manage multi-project exploration programs, and support business growth initiatives. This position requires exceptional expertise in advanced geoscience, project management, and client engagement.

Lead major mining exploration programs, combining business development with full project lifecycle management—from feasibility studies to project closure.

Identify new business opportunities and contribute to strategic planning with an entrepreneurial approach.

Develop and implement exploration strategies, including geological mapping, geochemical sampling, and drilling programs.

Oversee the design, supervision, and interpretation of remote sensing, geochemical surveys, structural mapping, and advanced geological analytics.

Manage exploration budgets, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet project goals effectively.

Apply international reporting standards (JORC/NI 43-101) in resource estimation and ensure alignment with ESG principles.

Conduct advanced structural geology studies, including 3D geological modeling and fault system analysis.

Prepare technical proposals, deliver client presentations, and represent the company in bid evaluations.

Mentor junior geoscientists, promoting excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to integrate geological, geophysical, and geotechnical datasets for enhanced targeting and risk reduction.

Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and successful project execution.

Drive improvements in reporting, workflows, and knowledge sharing across regional and global teams.

MSc or PhD in Geology or related discipline.

Minimum 15 years of experience in mineral exploration, including at least 5 years in a senior or principal consulting role.

Strong background in greenfield and brownfield exploration, with expertise in VMS and orogenic gold deposits. Experience in the Arabian-Nubian Shield is an advantage.

Advanced skills in geological modeling and GIS platforms such as Leapfrog, Surpac, Micromine, and ArcGIS.

Proven experience in exploration program design, resource estimation, and multidisciplinary geoscience integration.

Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, develop business opportunities, and manage multiple complex projects.

Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with experience working in remote or challenging environments.
