About the Role
An excellent opportunity has opened for a qualified Geologist / Geoscientist to join a leading exploration and subsurface team in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting geological and seismic data, creating detailed subsurface models, and supporting exploration and production operations in upstream oil and gas projects.
This role includes occasional fieldwork and offshore assignments within Qatar.
Key Responsibilities

Interpret geological, geophysical, and seismic data to identify potential hydrocarbon reservoir zones.

Build 2D and 3D subsurface models for reservoir characterization and development planning.

Generate geological maps, cross-sections, structure and isopach maps, and stratigraphic interpretations.

Conduct hydrocarbon volume estimation and risk assessment.

Collaborate with drilling, reservoir, and production engineers to integrate geological input into well planning.

Monitor well logs, cores, and cuttings; perform stratigraphic correlations.

Provide geological advice on drilling hazards, formation pressures, and structural complexities.

Prepare technical reports, presentations, and resource documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Petroleum Geoscience, Earth Sciences, or related field (Master’s preferred).

International qualifications must be supported by an accreditation certificate.

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in oil & gas exploration, field geology, or subsurface modelling.

Proficiency in Petrel, Leapfrog, Surpac, or similar subsurface modelling and mapping software.

Knowledge of seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and core studies.

Strong data analysis and quantitative skills.

Fluency in English (written and verbal); Arabic proficiency is an advantage.

Willingness to travel and work in remote or offshore environments (rotational assignments possible).

Membership in a professional organization such as AAPG or SPE is preferred.

Prior experience with offshore projects and reservoir simulation is a plus.
